Rained out

I was lazing around at home. It was pouring heavily outside and as I stood in the balcony I saw people running around about trying to avoid getting wet from the downpour. Thats when I went in got out the camera and begun clicking. The one on top was a woman who was walking towards some shops downstairs to take shelter. She had a slight smile on her face as she tried to shield herself from the rain visible in the larger version of the photograph.

Here's another guy running on the road in front of my home using his jacket to shield his head from getting wet from the onslaught above. I didn't see where he went eventually he just kept running. This photo catches him in a nice 'freeze-frame' kind of pose. The shutter speed was slightly bumped up for the effect.

By now the rain had slowed down as is evident from the photo. This guy, more carefree than the others, sat on a green tractor. He looked like he was enjoying getting wet. Either that or he didn't have a choice - most tractors don't have hoods. Maybe I should get myself one; just for the rains.

Pink dew

There's this guy who lives downstairs who has a sort-of mini garden near the entrance of his home. I had just got back from work when I realized some of the flowers in his garden were a little wet from the rain. The dew had collected nicely on this pink flower. I ran upstairs to get my camera and had a feeling this was going to be a good macro. I was right.

Eclipse

This is an amazing photo of my sister Deepti and my pet dalmatian - 'Dot'. Dot was due for surgery the same day and my sister dropped in to see her that morning. They were sitting in the hall and it was pretty early thats why the bright light coming in from the windows highlighted their side. It gave this awesome effect to the photo. Converting the photo to grayscale gave it an even mightier punch. Right expression, subtle smile, the right amount of light - you've got to love this one!

Adieu

This one is a little different from the stuff I normally post. An old friend of mine, Kshiteej is leaving for Australia soon. We had this farewell bash at his place one last time. I was a bit skeptical on carrying my camera along for 2 reasons : a) because it was raining b) because it isn't exactly portable. But I was glad I carried it along as some of the snaps turned out really nice. I'm sure a couple of years down the line when we look at these snaps we'll all remember what a great time we had.

The one above was clicked after I told Kshiteej and Kanchan to give me funny expressions. Kanchan just ended up smiling while Kshiteej ended up looking like a cartoon :)

Flight of the Icarus

Classical Mythology. a youth who attempted to escape from Crete with wings of wax and feathers but flew so high that his wings melted from the heat of the sun, and he plunged to his death in the sea

Shot clicked from the terrace. Had clicked quite a few shots of this crow before he took off and I got this last shot of him. Silhouettes look really cool especially when you get a nice amount light in the background. Shutter speed wasn't all that high which is why the buildings in the background look blurred. The bird is in focus though because of the tilt. "Flight of the Icarus" is also an Iron Maiden song which I love.
